HRA Captains Day and Teams Challenge Shield – Sunday 7th April 2019

This traditional opener to the Hertfordshire County shooting season was shot in pleasant conditions, unlike many years in the past.

The individual Captains Day event is run in the morning using a handicapped Queens I format, to encourage shooters of all ability to enter. The Captains Day prize is given to the competitor with the highest handicapped score and a prize for the best gun score is also up for grabs.

WPRC fielded 6 entrants out of the 18 in the individual morning competition. With two-thirds of all competitors matching or beating their handicaps used to ‘level the playing field’. It was a tough morning for the WPRC squad with only Nick Verduyn shooting well enough to gain a top three position. Rob Edwards (North Herts Rifles) shot strongly against senior opposition to win the Salver.

Andy Day on NHR producing a winning score of 104.12 took top Gun Score, with Nick in second place, one V behind.
