155th Imperial Meeting – July 2024

Tom Stevenson - Kings Prize 2024

155th Imperial Meeting, July 19th to 27th 2024

In our early season club shoots, good team scores had been hard to come by, despite some good individual performances. We were hoping and expected better results from this year’s Imperial, and ultimately we were not to be disappointed. The WPRC squad this year comprised the following:

Alistair Bullen, Ashley Coleman-Cooke, Henry Reynolds, Colin Skellett, Tom Stevenson, Nick Verduyn.

TARGET RIFLE

Team shooting

With Henry and Colin only shooting over the first weekend, the club was only able to shoot in The Steward team event. Our under par overall score of 667.67 placed us 27th ex 34 entrants.

The WPRC team was:
Alistair Bullen, Ashley Coleman-Cooke, Tom Stevenson and Nick Verduyn,

Individual shooting

2024 saw the cream rise to the top in the individual competitions for our squad. Four out of the six members featured in prize lists, where a total of 19 prize placings were achieved, almost double that previously recorded.

Henry Reynolds was delighted to break his duck by achieving a 78th place ex 732 competitors in The Alexandra and an ‘O’ classification in future. Both Tom Stevenson and Alistair Bullen led the way with 7 individual prizes each.

The prestigious St Georges and Kings Prize first stages saw Tom, Nick and Alistair all qualifying for the second stages in both competitions. Alistair qualified for the Chairman’s Prize final, likewise Nick in The Donaldson Memorial final.

Bullen - Chairmans Prize 2024

The St Georges and Kings Prize finals are the Holy Grail of target rifle shooting, and with both Nick and Alistair narrowly missing the ‘cut’ in both, it was Tom Stevenson who made it through into both of these major finals in fine style.

Controlled shooting in the St Georges final saw him finish ahead of several Team GB shooters, to finish 26th ex 100, receiving his well deserved St Georges Badge for a great effort. In the Kings Prize final, a totally unexplained ‘clear target’ was a crushing disappointment, pushing him well down the list, but two Finals appearances saw his ‘X’ class secured for the next three years.

Tom - Kings Prize Final

The Grand Aggregate comprise scores from 12 competitions and with 656 entrants, Nick finishing 70th , Alistair 112th, and Tom in 34th position was a very satisfying achievement for our squad this year.

ROLL ON 2025!!
