County Astor Cup Heat – April 27th 2025

The ASTOR is an NRA competition in which the chosen teams from every County compete at the Imperial Prize Meeting in July. Selection of those teams takes place in a series of County heats, and this year the Hertfordshire heat was held on Sunday 27th April.

With fine weather promised, regrettably only three clubs were able to provide teams. The course of fire was 2 sighters and 7 to count at 300, 500 and 600 yards.

With very light winds, dropping 7 points at 300 yards, was a promising start for WPRC. However, 500 and 600 yards were different stories with 12 and 11 points dropped respectively giving us a total of 600.58 and Nick Verduyn leading the way with a gun score of 103.12 ex 105.

Due to the low attendance, it was decided to take the five best five scores to count from six in each team. Our adjusted total of 504.51 was enough to get the job done, to see us through to our tenth Astor Final.
