County Astor Cup Heat – May 13th 2018

Following recent good team performances WPRC were ready for this year’s customary battle for the privilege to proceed to the final in July. Conditions were deceptively difficult, with fast changing wind direction and strength. Colin Skellett and Nick Verduyn took on the wind coaching tasks and their experience began to show as the team turned in some solid scores.

Radlett were three points clear after the first detail at 300 yards and we had pulled that back to just two points at 500 when disaster befell Bob Jackson, scoring a bull on the adjacent target with a rare cross shot.  Despite James Greenways superb maximum 105.13, Radlett grasped their opportunity and finished strongly for a record equalling 616 ex 630. They progress to represent the County in the final at the Imperial Meeting in July.
