Interclub Match with RAF TRC – Sunday 31st August 2025
Interclub Match with RAF TRC – Sunday 31st August 2025
This inaugural match between two target rifle shooting clubs was arranged at short notice, as both had club shoots on the same day and at the same distances. To facilitate the competition arrangements it was decided that only the first detail, for a team of 6, at each distance of 300x and 900x with a 2 & 10 course of fire would constitute the match.
Despite being the holiday season with many members unable to attend, both teams were able to field 6 entrants. A prize would be given for the best gun score on each opposing team.
A dry day was expected and did not disappoint, but there was quickly changing and very strong wind conditions forecast for the afternoon, with the NRA warning that they might suspend shooting for a period if the strength of the wind risked endangering the butt markers.
The morning shoot at 300x was completed with a disappointing total score of 264.25, with Tom Stevenson having the highest gun score of 49.5. With the very strong and variable winds at 900x, both high scores and V-counts were very difficult to find, but due to the excellent coaching by Nick and Tom a team score of 266.16 was achieved, making a combined total of 530.41. The top gun score was Tom with 96.8.
Unfortunately the total was not enough to beat the RAF which managed a total of 544.41. Their top gun score was Julie Ouston with 95.10.
It was agreed that everyone enjoyed the day, and if possible this match should be done annually if club programs permit it.
