End of Season Shoot 17th October 2010

Our customary final club meeting of the season was held on Sunday 17th October, which with sub-zero conditions at 0830 looked a rather bleak prospect. Bisley however delivered a sublime day. By 0930 the sun was up in a cornflower blue sky, the frost had melted and the flags were totally lifeless.

A rather select band of just seven members proceeded to do battle over four ranges and continued to enjoy unbroken sunshine and light or non-existent winds. Scoring on the day was high, with most exceeding their handicaps and success was spread far and wide. Coupled with the competitions shot over the season, the 10 trophies up for grabs were shared evenly between five members.

James Greenway at last prised the Donegalll trophy away from Richard Malet after three years, while still leaving Richard still pretty satisfied with his overall win in the EOS Tankard. Bob Jackson recorded a rare success in the Pemberton Cup, while Alistair Bullen edged Colin Skellett out of a win in the Holland Shield after a third countback, Colin Skellett created another club record with a remarkable 599 ex 600 in the 7.62 Trophy. Maybe it’s time for a rule change in this competition as most of his success came at 300 yards!

Prizes were presented after shooting and details of all competitions were as follows:
