HRA Captains Day and Teams Challenge Shield – Sunday 10th April 2022

HRA Captains Day

This traditional opener to the Hertfordshire County shooting season was shot in pleasant conditions, unlike many years in the past.

The individual Captains Day event is run in the morning using a handicapped Queens I format, to encourage shooters of all ability to enter. The Captains Day prize is given to the competitor with the highest handicapped score and a prize for the best gun score is also up for grabs.

This year due to revised late target re-allocations, the course of fire was revised to 2&7 at 300, 500 and another 2&7 again at 500.

WPRC fielded 6 entrants out of the low number of 13 in the individual morning competition. With two-thirds of all competitors matching or beating their handicaps used to ‘level the playing field’. It was a good morning for the WPRC squad with four members in the top six. Colin Skellett won his own Captains Day prize, to win the Salver.

It was another double for WPRC, with Nick Verduyn narrowly beating the Captain by bagging the top Gun Score of 103.13.
